FAQs

Are sessions in person or virtual?

Mental health counseling and professional clinical supervision  in-person; limited virtual telehealth options are available upon request. Consulting is virtual.

Where do I park for in-person sessions?

Street parking is metered until 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and free on Weekends.  Metered parking accepts quarters, or payment via the Park Mobile app.  Free parking is available a couple of blocks away by Baker Park.  The closest garage parking is on E. Church Street.

What languages do you speak?

I am fluent in both English and Spanish.

Do you accept insurance for mental health counseling?

I am a paneled healthcare provider with Cigna and CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield. Other insurance carriers and plans may accept out-of-network providers when a "superbill," which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I also accept self-paying clients and offer a sliding scale. Payment is due at the time of service.

*Note, although some insurances offer out of network benefits, they may still deny your reimbursement. You are encouraged to verify out of network coverage and reimbursement with your insurance provider independently.  SGS Counseling and Consulting, LLC is not liable for those charges you have incurred.

Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your insurance provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.

Here are suggested questions to ask:

  1. Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

  2. Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

  3. Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

  4. Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

What are your fees?

Fees are due at the date of service.

  • Family Therapy (53-60 minutes): $165

What is the No-Surprises Act?

You have a right to a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
